Everyone say, “Go Chicago!” If Chicago can land the 2016 Olympic Games then this will help this great city turn the corner and be the best city in the world! This is the kind of opportunity that only comes once every century and Chicago has to capitalize on it.

   I am writing to express disgust with the city of Chicago as they pursue getting the 2016 Olympic Games.  Chicago is falling apart at the seams and the city is wasting valuable time and money courting a sporting event.  What is more important; watching some steroid abusing jocks, or coming up with viable long [...]

You know, this all Olympic Game dilemma, “For?” or “Against?” is more complicated this it should be.  I personally think Chicago should not host the Games for a number of reasons:

As Chicago moves closer securing the 2016 Olympics, I’d like to offer reasons to reconsider. First, selling off portions of Lakeshore Park.  Development along the lake will forever alter this essential and understated landmark.  Public land will be siphoned off and sold to the highest contractor.

Only thirty cities have had the chance to unite people from all corners of the world, to be a cradle of peace among nations and glorify the art of athleticism. In 2016 Chicago may be the host of the 31st Olympic Games and we, as Chicagoans, should support it.

Dear Editor, I am appalled at the number of readers writing to express their opposition to Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics.

Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games could be one of the largest and most expensive political red herrings the City of Big Shoulders has come up with yet.
